FUN ACTIVITIES AT BARQUETA NICE

These activities are open to all the residents of Playa La Barqueta and they are a good way to meet new people plus have a good time.  If you are not on the neighborhood WhatsApp site, Barqueta Bulletin, contact Robin Densford on WhatsApp at 806-470-9248.  Most of the information about neighborhood activities is shared there.

WATER AEROBICS
Water aerobics is held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10–11 AM.  Locations vary, so join the "Water Exercise" group on WhatsApp to stay informed.  

BIKING
Neighbors meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings to ride to Guarumal and other points further afield.  The group leaves at 8 AM  during the green season, and 7:30 during the dry season at the intersection near the condos where the road turns left.  Rides included Alanje, Cantagallo, Santo Tomas and Divalá. Most often they include breakfast at the Fonda Don Miguel in Guarumal.  If you want to be notified of the longer rides, contact Nina Tartakoff on WhatsApp at +1 (907) 978-8941.

BOCCE AND SHUFFLEBOARD
Bocce and shuffleboard are available every Tuesday at 4 PM at Casa E–07. If you want to be contacted about weather related schedule changes, let Rebecca Conway know on WhatsApp at 6382–0453.

FRIDAY HAPPY HOUR
Happy hour is held at the Azul Bar at Las Olas or rotating homes one Friday a month.  The date and time will be posted on Barqueta Bulletin.  If you are interested in hosting, contact Rebecca Conway on WhatsApp at 6382–0453.

SUNDAY NIGHT DINNERS AT LAS OLAS RESORT
Every week at 6 PM the neighbors gather at Las Olas for Sunday dinner.  If you would like to be added to the reservation, contact Elizabeth Robinson on WhatsApp at 6946–0181.

TACO TUESDAY
The neighborhood was able to have its’ first Taco Tuesday in two years this May. COVID restrictions were lifted, and John Hahn did a great job preparing some wonderful tacos. Thanks John and we look forward to enjoying more!

POT LUCK DINNERS
Pot Luck Dinners hosted at different people's houses are enjoyed by all.  Bring the beverage of your choice and a dish to pass and sometimes a chair to be safe. Lots of fun and good food!  Get to know your neighbors!!

TURTLE RELEASES 
Our Beach is known for saving the turtle eggs from natural (and unnatural) predators.  They are carefully cared for and when hatched, are released to the sea.  An estimated 20,000 baby turtles begin their life journey right here!

LAS OLAS RESORT
Barqueta Nice is very close to the Las Olas Resort which offers even more activities!!  All are always welcome.  For a small annual fee, you can join Las Olas and have access to their gym, pool, beach, and tennis courts.  For more adventures, look into renting a kayak and exploring the mangroves or book a leisurely horseback ride on the beach.  The Resort also offers both casual and elegant dining and excellent accommodations if you have guests who prefer not to drive after dark.

WARNINGS FOR SWIMMERS! 
We enjoy living on the Beach but want to make sure that you warn all of your guests about the rip tide or undertow.  Panama reports 30 - 35 deaths by drowning per year and unfortunately 3 - 4 of them usually occur at our Beach.  Signs are posted but please warn your family and friends and review safety protocols.
